A good oil on canvas depicting the town of Rochester as seen from the River Medway. Tastefully composed and using a range of pastel coloured paints, this painting depicts the town of Rochester on a cloudy day with sunlight piercing through and casting interesting shadows across the shoreline.
Godwin Bennett (1888-1950) was born in Brighton and as well as being an accomplished painter he was also an art dealer. He later moved to Croydon. His painted scenes were mostly South Coast, Surrey and London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy.
