A particularly fine quality early 19th Century rosewood WORK TABLE by the famous and highly regarded firm of cabinetmakers – Gillows of Lancaster.
The beautiful top with its twin leaves is veneered in finest figured timber and features two drawers within the frieze below. The lower of these is fited with a U-shaped silk-pleated ’embroidery’ or knitting drawer, whilst the whole table is raised on good turned and reeded legs, leading to melon carved feet; carved knops and original brass castors.
A fine quality Gillows table.
