A good French tapestry in 18th century style depicting a rural woodland scene, with a river, wooden bridge, ruins and several wild animals (Deer; Pheasant; Quail/Partridge; Ducks and a Spaniel gun dog) in the foreground with buildings and hills in the background. It is a good study of a basket of fruit, trees, leaves and flowers. The border comprises beautifully executed foliage and scrolling flowers with a gold border.

The back is well lined in gold fabric with steel hanging ‘loops’ on the upper edge to allow for curtain pole hanging.  High quality and in excellent condition.

Dated:  Executed in the 18th century style, but possibly as recently as 1950-1960.
