A fine ‘ready to hang’ PAIR of gilt-framed Marine Oil Paintings on canvas, by Frederick J. Sang.

One is entitled “The Yare from Gorleston, Norfolk. Painted from nature by Fred. J. Sang. “The Studio” 60 Park Road, Haverstock Hill, NW.” (inscribed verso), and features several boats (large and small) navigating the estuary, some at anchor one in the foreground under sail. Signed to the lower right corner. With ‘Gorleston’ lower left corner.

The other painting a similar harbour scene with several boats moored up and two steam ships (one a tug boat) getting ready to set sail. Signed lower right corner. A label (verso) whilst present is indecipherable.

Dated: c. 1865-70

Frederick J Sang (b. 1846 – d. 1931): was born in France, and best known for his work in England during the period 1865-1870. Predominantly for his paintings of  Landscapes and Townscapes. Over his lifetime he exhibited nine works at the Royal Academy, including ‘View on the Canal near Gournay’ and ‘The River from the Pier, Limehouse’. Plus a further five watercolours at The Royal Society (Suffolk Street) in LONDON.

Condition: Both frames and canvas in good clean condition. Ready to hang.
