A good mid-19th century mahogany open-fronted dwarf bookcase

A good and solid mid-19th century open-fronted mahogany dwarf bookcase, with three adjustable shelves within. The top, base and each shelf front are beautifully carved and polished with gadrooned decoration. To the top of each side elevation are carved scrolls with acanthus leaf styling. Each shelf is adjustable to allow for differing book heights.

The unit stands on a solid mahogany plinth base, again with gadroon decoration to the front. The fine quality mahogany throughout has excellent colour and patina.

Dated: c.1830-45.
