A Victorian Gilt Metal Strut Clock in the manner of Thomas Cole, originally retailed by Howell James & Co. London.
The silvered and engine-turned oval dial features Roman numerals, an outer minutes’ track and a subsidiary seconds’ dial; the case has pierced roundels with foliate & diamond decoration.
The case-back is inscribed “Howell James & Co. to the Queen, London Paris” and is shuttered to prevent ingress of dust, opening to allow access to winding post, hands and time up/down adjustment. The base of the frame is numbered 199.
The clock comes with a key (possibly replaced) and is sold in full working order.

Provenance: The clock was once purchased at Bonhams (Edinburgh) on 14th June 2017.
Dimensions: Height: 13 cm. Width: 9.5 cm.
Condition: minor scratches consistent with age and small patch of fogging to left of ‘IX’ on silver dial.
