An unusual late Regency/William IV period brass-inlaid SEWING BOX with various tools and implements. The rosewood box is profusely inlaid with brass scrollwork, with solid rosewood ring side handles and raised on turned and carved “melon” feet. The lid opens to reveal the fitted interior complete with set of six mother-of-pearl cotton reels; three silver thimbles; various tools including gilt-handled scissors, whilst within the lid is gilt-tooled leather ‘pattern’ wallet. The upper tray lifts out to reveal various other sewing items below. 12ins (30.5cms) wide. c1825-40.
