RARE PAIR OF EARLY 19TH CENTURY SAMPLERSPrice: £1150 the Pair
Stock No. 5141/k
A rare PAIR of early 19th century SAMPLERS, hand-sewn by two sisters: Emily Hayward (completed April 8th 1813) and Margaret Hayward (completed February 10th 1817). Surviving samplers by sisters are very scarce and this pair is in excellent condition retaining strong vibrant colours. Both are very similar in style with the alphabet and numerals in various sizes and a four-line religious quotation within a green ‘castellated’ border interspersed by strawberries. Apparently original frames (though not removed). Both measure approx: 13.5 x 12ins (34.5 x 30.5cms). Dated 1813/1817.
