A good mid-19th century mahogany cased 8-day longcase clock by William Roberts of Bath.
The dial is painted and features 2 subsidiary dials: seconds and days of the month, each with ornate gilded minute/hour hands and black steel subsidiary hands. The 8-day movement strikes hours on a bell. The painted quadrants around the dial feature Lady’s dressed in elaborate clothes. The domed panel above the dial features a seated ‘King’ with two attendants. The flame mahogany case has turned columns to each side, and to the hood. Three brass phoenix finials perched on brass spheres adorn the domed pediment.
