Michael J Allard is a renowned British Artist who moved to Zimbabwe some years ago (1960’s) where he set up his studio on a farm, and over the years has produced a prolific number of paintings. He favoured the lighthearted humour of local life with many paintings portraying local children and their parents in varying roles and situations. However, there was a serious side to his art, with many studies of local wildlife, in particular birds and wild beasts. He took many commissions for wealthy and well known people.
A coffee table book (“A Lighter Side of Africa”) with many high quality illustrated pages, written by a close friend, highlights many of his works and is available exclusively through Quiet Street Antiques, Bath. Please ask for details (£25 plus postage).
