W.M.Stanley: a large OIL PANTING on canvas entitled: “Between Two Fires” after the original by Francis Davis Millet (1846-1912) in a fine original ornate gilded frame. It depicts a Puritan seated at a large oak table within an imposing dining room, with an ornate Gothic window behind. He is about to start his meal, whilst two finely dressed but formidable ladies observe his demeanour. Behind is an old wall clock and mistletoe/holly can be seen in the rustic chandelier above. The back is inscribed with the title and dated: “November 1900”. 40ins high; 48ins wide, (102 x 122cms)  including the very good gilded frame.
