Lady’s Writing Desk or ‘Cheveret’ in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster

A charming late Victorian satinwood LADY’S WRITING TABLE (or “CHEVERET”) in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster.
In particularly fine original condition, it is constructed of beautifully-figured satinwood, with darker inlaid borders, and comprises 2 separate sections. The upper section, with its large carrying handle, can be removed and carried from room to room. This upper section comprises of two small drawers and one larger full width drawer, with a galleried shelf above.
The lower section has a fitted drawer with a pen and ink section to the right and a sliding mahogany hinged tilting writing surface with further storage underneath.
It is raised on elegant tapering legs.
