James Edwin MEADOWS (1828-1888): An attractive PAIR of marine Oil Paintings on canvas laid on board, one which is entitled: “At the Mouth of the Thames”, the other: “Off Dover”. Both depict working boats in choppy seas with a larger vessel in the background. In good ornate gilt frames.

* James Edwin Meadows was the first son of James Meadows Snr, a highly esteemed artist, and a member of this well-known family of marine artists. During the period 1852-1876 no less than 16 of his works were exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, whilst examples of his work can be found in many galleries and museums.
