GOOD 18TH CENTURY MARQUETRY INLAID TEA CADDY

A very good and fine quality late 18th century OVAL TEA CADDY in good original condition. Veneered in traditional harewood (stanined sycamore) and framed with chequered borders, the lid is inlaid with an oval panel of strawberries and leaves, whilte the front is marquetry inlaid with two birds perched upon a berry-laden tree. The interior retains the remains of its original lead lining and is complete with its two original inner lids, and working key. 7ins (18cms) wide. circa 1780-1790.
