An excellent quality mid-Victorian fitted DRESSING/JEWELLERY CASE in very good original condition. The case itself is of coromandel wood, cross-banded in coromandel (an unusual feature) with brass string inlay and an inlaid engraved brass cartouche to the lid This opens to reveal the fully-fitted interior with TEN cut-glass jars, boxes and scent bottles all with engraved silver lids, arranged around the central paid of tools and implements which include a fine pair of polished steel scissors.


There is a fitted jewellery drawer to be found within the base; a further spring-loaded drawer to one side (perhaps for costume jewellery?) and a concealed mirror within the lid. The silver is hallmarked for London 1865 and this fine box is in excellent condition throughout. 12ins wide; 9ins front-to-back; 7ins high. (30.5x23x18cms). English circa 1865.
