FINE PAIR OF AUSTRIAN COLD-PAINTED BRONZES

A good PAIR of late 19th century Austrian cold-painted BRONZE figures of a male and female grouse.  In excellent condition (just one or two very minor paint losses) one is depicted pecking at something on the ground, the other standing upright. Good original colours. Very much in the Bergmann style but no signatures.  9.5cms high.

** The “Red” grouse is a small to medium sized reddish-brown game bird that breeds in the uplands of the north and west of the UK. They are resident all year round, and are declining, possibly due to disease and loss of heather habitat.
