FINE GEORGE II NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER

Price: Ā£520
Stock No. 5148/k

A charming mid-18th century George II period Needlework Sampler in excellent condition and probably within its original “Hogarth” style frame. It is by Jane Nelmes and inscribed “born December ye 3 1740” so likely to have been stitched circa1750. Unusually the top section contains a verse from the ending of “Robinson Crusoe”, by Daniel Defoe (published in 1719) with numerals; crowns; birds and other motifs below. Good colours and undamaged.
