DROCOURT: A fine French repeating CARRIAGE CLOCK

DROCOURT: a fine quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK by this famous and highly-regarded maker. The case is of the desirable “gorge” design, with large bevelled glass viewing panel to the top and bevelled glass panels all around. The eight-day movement, retains its original lever platform escapement, striking hours and half-hours on a gong and repeating the hours at will.  The good enamel dial is perfect; the blued steel hands are original and it is signed on the dial and the backplate by both the retailer (T. Martin & Co) and the trademark of Drocourt (a carriage clock flanked by the initials “D” & “C”).  Perfect working order and guaranteed for at least two years. 5ins high (handle down).  French circa 1885-1890.
