BETJEMANN: A MOST IMPRESSIVE COROMANDEL DECANTER BOX

A truly superb coromandel DECANTER BOX of the finest quality! The heavy, well-figured brass-bound box opens to reveal the set of four decanter bottles ~ nothing special about that, one might say.  However, to the centre can be seen an ornate gilt brass handle, which allows a finely-figured and velvet-lined satinwood stand to be lifted out. This contains the original set of four heavy cut-glass decanters and stoppers in wonderful condition. (Each of these decanters is numbered, with a matching number on the stoppers, and the decanters themselves are beautifully engraved with an unusual decorative design.) The empty box, now bereft of its decanter stand, can be seen in all its glory ~ beautifully lined in the finest figured satinwood. The is certainly by the famous firm of Betjemann, typical of their quality and with gilded hinges and fittings.  Thoroughly recommended. 9.5ins wide; 11.5ins high. (24 x 29cms)
