A charming late 19th / early 20th century Austrian Cold Painted bronze figural group of a Middle Eastern Rug Trader in the manner of Franz Bergmann.
The trader sits cross legged smoking a long pipe, on a rug in the centre of the stand, surrounded by rugs, plates, a water carrier with a snake curled around it; cattle horns; a musket; shield; and a sword. All adjacent to a small table upon which perches a parrot on a stand.
Made in Austria is stamped in several places on the back. The underside of the canopy discreetly houses an electric lamp, the cable for which is fed through an upright to the rear base.
Overall in excellent condition. Consistant with age. Colours remain bright and detailed with very little sign of paint wear.
Dated: c.1895-1900.
