Harold Youngman (1886-1968) ~ an interesting solid bronze figure entitled “Ishmael” depicting the prophet as a young boy wearing a loincloth and holding a bow. Signed and titled on the integral bronze plinth base. 10.5ins (26.5cms) high

* ISHMAEL was one of Abraham’s sons, who together with his brother Hagar, was banished into the desert at the age of 13.  This broke Abraham’s heart, although God promised that Ishmael would raise a great nation of his own. 

** Harold James YOUNGMAN was born in Bradford in 1886, studying at the Plymouth School of Art and the prestigious Royal School of Art in Kensington, completing his training in 1911. He served in the Honourable Artillery Company in the First World War, and later exhibited his work at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He was known for his religious figures.
