AN INGENIOUS (AND RARE) VICTORIAN BRONZE INKWELL

Price: £275
Stock No. 5185/k

A rare and interesting mid-Victorian BRONZE INKWELL of great detail.  It is cast as a lady (or maid?) who wears a mop cap and carries a tray. On this tray is a teapot; sugar basin (with removable lid) ; teacup & saucer, whilst she holds a cream jug in her right hand.  Her head hinges backwards to access the ink, whilst her right arm can be lifted off for use as a seal.  It is set upon a shaped white marble base; ingenious and rather charming.  circa 1860-75
