A SUPERB CASED BINOCULAR MICROSPCOPE & SLIDES

Stock No. 5400/k

A very fine mid/late 19th century Victorian period CASED MICROSCOPE in superb original condition. The heavy solid mahogany case opens to reveal the interior, packed with the microscope itself; monocular and binocular extensions and a vast array of various different lenses, some in brass cases with hand-engraved details to the lids.  The applied labels shows this was made by M Pillischer of London** with a hand-engraved number: 3358.  This comes with a separate mahogany case of 72 microscope slides arranged in twelve shallow trays.  Very impressive.

**Moritz Pillischer emigrated to London in 1845, and produced microscopes and other mathematical instruments from 1849 in his premises at 419, Oxford Street and later at 88, New Bond Street.  He was renown for the high quality of his compound microscopes, of which this is an excellent example.
