A PARTICULARLY FINE LARGE FRENCH REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK
Price: £675Stock No. 5410/k
HENRI JACOT**: a very fine quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in perfect working order. Contained in its large “gorge” case (the most expensive and desirable of ‘standard’ cases) it features its original bevelled glass panels to all sides and the large thick glass panel to the top. The eight-day movement retains its original lever platform escapement, striking hours & half-hours melodiously on a gong and repeating the hours at will via the upper button. The fine enamel dial (Jacot was renowned for the quality of the enamel dials he used) is in mint condition, as are the original blued steel hands. The movement works perfectly with a particularly robust action. 7ins ins high (handle up) 3.75ins wide; 3.5ins deep. (18 x 9.5 x 8.75cms). Thoroughly recommended and guaranteed for at least two years.
** HENRI JACOT: one of the great makers of French Carriage Clocks. His trademark: a parrot on a stand flanked by the initials “H” and “J” was first introduced circa 1878. This clock can be dated circa 1885-1890.
