A superb Meiji period Japanese articulated Bronze Hermit Crab, with removable shell.
The rear of the crabs’ body is articulated and shaped so as to insert into the shell opening.
Highly realistic, beautifully modelled and in exceptional condition. Stamped signature to the crabs’ body. Stands evenly on four legs on a flat surface with and without shell.
Length: 10 cm x width: 7.5 cm.
Dated: c.1900-1910
