A good set of EIGHT Chippendale style late 19th century solid mahogany DINING CHAIRS in excellent original condition. Comprising six open dining chairs and two carvers (with arms).

Each chair features a well carved and pierced back, with ‘drop-in’ seats supported on carved cabriole front legs which terminate in ball-and-bird claw feet, whilst the carver chairs have shaped and carved solid mahogany arms. The back of each chair is ornately decorated with carved flowers and leaves, with delicate and stylish piercing. The shoulders are rounded with reeded decoration. The legs are of a solid mahogany cabriole style with acanthus leaves to the top and terminating in heavy ball-and-bird claw feet.

Each of the drop in seats is covered in an attractive ‘gross point’ and ‘petit point’ tapestry, all in very good condition indeed. Beautifully individually hand-woven and depicting bunches of flowers.
