A fine quality rosewood DAVENPORT made by the famous firm of cabinet makers: Gillows of Lancaster.

The Davenport is a showpiece example of early ergonomics, the design incorporates:

*  Sliding upper writing slope to enable knees to fit underneath during use
*  Polished and gilded leather writing surface
*  Lift-up lid with storage inside and egg & dart carved edge
*  Two internal storage drawers (plus two dummy drawers, one with secret release for pen/ink drawer)
*  Criss-cross note storage inside lid
*  Two full-width pull out candle / notebook slides
*  Beautifully figured rosewood panels including secret drawer front
*  Gilded brass gallery to the upper shelf surround
*  Four full-width storage drawers, with recessed brass handles, concealed behind a lockable door (original working key supplied)
*  Concealed pen and ink drawer, with two original ink bottles
*  Classic (Gillows) decorative Apple feet with hidden brass castors
