A fine quality French ormolu and porcelain-mounted MANTEL CLOCK By Jean Baptiste Delettrez (active c.1845-c.1885) of Paris, in excellent condition and in full working-order.

The case is of finest ormolu, retaining its original gilding with a two handled painted porcelain urn with gilt flame pediment and two subsidiary gilded pineapples to either side. Fine hand-painted porcelain panels to the dial, front and sides, all of which are decorated in Sevres style “bleu de celeste’ with floral, bird and musical instrument themes, cherubs to the front. Gilt spandrels and foliate engraving grace the front frame. Beautiful ormolu cast decoration to all sides and especially to the base. Raised on adjustable gilded circular conical feet. Key included (not original).

The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell and is stamped with the makers monogram “JBD”. Complete with pendulum. Serial number “35432 15_3” stamped on the movement.
