An interesting and rather unusual set of 18th century George III period steel and brass SCALES together with a selection of various brass weights. Both of the two pans are engraved with: “Lyme Regis, DORSET” and dated 1796, together with a “V.R.” cypher when they were checked for accuracy following Queen Victoria’s ascension to the throne.  The steel beam is engraved with the makers: “Nicholas & Fowler, LONDON” to both sides. 22ins high; 17ins wide; each pan 5.5ins diameter.
