18th Century mahogany “PIECRUST” OCCASIONAL TABLE

Price: £1150
Stock No. 5203/k

A good 18th century mahogany “Piecrust” side or occasional TABLE in excellent condition and of good colour. The one-piece solid top (24ins diameter) is beautifully carved, tilting upwards if required via the original catch. It is supported on a spirally-turned column leading to a tripod base and pad feet.  29ins (73.5cms) high.  English circa 1770-1785.

** NB: This is a genuine 18th century example.  Many were later carved in Victorian times from plain Georgian tilt-top tables but these bear the tell-tale signs of three small ‘plugged’ holes in the centre of the top, where the screws that hold the catch were revealed when the centre was ‘routed-out’.
