1539/17: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a good quality early/mid 19th century FOUR-TIER WHATNOT (or "etagere") by this famous firm of cabinetmakers. Constructed of solid and veneered Gonzales Alvez timber and finely made, it features the traditional Gillows baluster gallery with "S" scroll terminals, whilst the four figured veneered shelves are supported on solid uprights leading to turned "toupee" feet and fine quality brass castors. An unusual model from Gillows and very fine quality. 46ins high; 18.5ins wide; 15ins deep (117 x 47 x 38cms) c.1835

1434/17: An excellent quality early 19th century rosewood 4-TIER WHATNOT (or ETAGERE) of good warm patina and in fine condition. Each tier of beautifully figured rosewood is supported on well-turned solid rosewood columns, with interesting finials to the upper corners. The lower tier features slender balusters, similar to a canterbury and it is supported on original cast brass castors. A good example. 48ins high;18ins wide; 16ins deep (122x46x40.5cms) c.1825
