1957/19: A fine quality and most decorative mid-late 19th century FRENCH MANTLE CLOCK of “mystery” type, with a bi-metallic grid pendulum fitted with a circle of paste diamonds that swings back-and-forth around the dial. The case is of “lyre” shape in royal blue porcelain surmounted by an ormolu sunburst and embellished with ornate ormolu mounts, with an oval porcelain base similarly mounted and raised on matching feet. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half hours on a bell; the fine convex enamel dial is perfect as are the ornate ormolu hands. 14ins (35.5cms) high. 6ins (15cms) wide; just 3ins (7.5cms) deep. c.1880

1953/19: An elegant and charming mid-19th century FRENCH MANTLE CLOCK in full working order. The case is of urn shape fashioned from Italian Carrera marble, with four ormolu finials and surmounted by an ormolu planetarium. To the sides are ormolu ram’s head handles and it is raised upon a similarly mounted black marble base with gilt feet. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, via the outside countwheel, and it is complete with its original decorative pendulum. The fine enamel dial is perfect as are the cast and engraved ormolu hands which are particularly fine. 17ins (43cms) high overall. c.1860

1330/16: ANONYMOUS: a handsome mid-19th century rosewood (Railway) MANTLE TIMEPIECE of "Four-Glass" type in perfect working order. The well-figured rosewood case is fitted with Gothic brass fretwork panels to the sides and is supported on compressed bun feet below the 'cushion' shaped base. The 8-day fusee movement, complete with original pendulum retains its good engraved and silvered dial together with "Breguet" moon hands. Unsigned but with a plaque underneath: "GWR 97" which refers to it once having been the property of the Great Western Railway. 14ins ( 35.5cms) high. c.1840
