1398/17: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: A good pair of early 19th century Regency period solid mahogany HALL CHAIRS in excellent condition. The solid backs are carved with well-defined acanthus leaves and gadrooned scrolled crests, whilst the seats are moulded with oval panels. They are supported on ring-turned slightly splayed front legs and faceted rear legs united by typical Gillows turned stretchers. Overall height: 36ins; 17ins wide; 19ins deep; the seats 18.5ins high. 1397/17: A wonderfully impressive and superb quality early 19th century mahogany SIDEBOARD or SERVING TABLE. Almost certainly by either Gillows of Lancaster or Trotter (of Edinburgh) this thoroughly original piece features a shaped backboard inlaid with ebony stringing; a one-piece top of excellent figuring and patina whilst it is supported on beautifully carved 'Classical' legs which terminate in good carved scroll feet. The frieze features a long bow-fronted central drawer, flanked by twin small drawers, both of which are lined in burgundy baize. *A gorgeous Serving table ~ perhaps also ideal for use in a large impressive hall? 77ins long; 34ins high; 26.5ins deep.
