1950/19: HENRI JACOT: a fine quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in lovely original condition and in full working order. The case is of "Gorge" design (the finest quality and most expensive 'standard' case) with its ribbed handle and large bevelled glass top, whilst the eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, repeating hours at will. Original lever platform escapement; signed with the "HJ" trademark and complete with its original numbered leather travelling case. *The clock and case are both numbered 8688, indicating this was made by the highly regarded Jacot manufactory in the 1870's. c.1870
