1533/17: A very fine, early and rare Quarter Repeating FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK in full working order. The case is of unusual ribbed "Gorge" design rarely seen and used only with very fine examples. The 8-day movement strikes hours and quarters on two bells, repeating hours and quarters at will. It retains its original very fine lever platform; has a separate alarm train, and features an engraved crest to the upper glass panel. (Difficult to photograph!). It is signed to both dial and the movement: "E & E Emanuel, by Appointment to the Queen, The Hard, Portsea" c.1855
