1969/19: An impressive and fine quality mid-19th century French Second Empire period MANTEL CLOCK in perfect working order. The "portico" style case is of satin birch embellished with ormolu mounts and ormolu capitals to the four columns. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell via the outside countwheel, whilst the original bi-metallic "grid-iron" pendulum is of finely cast ormolu, as is the good gilded dial and dial surround. 1955/19: A most impressive mid/late 19th century French ormolu MANTLE CLOCK in fine condition and in perfect working order. The superb case is of finest quality ormolu (gilt bronze) retaining its original gilding, and is surmounted with a "Sevres" style porcelain urn and mounted with various matching porcelain panels. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell whilst the dial is also of matching handpainted porcelain, retaining its original gilded 'spade' hands. All the panels are perfect and the gilding bright and original. 16ins (40.5cms) high; 11ins (28cms) wide and 6ins (15cms) deep front-to-back. c.1860
