1890/18: John Harris, LONDON: A small 18th century WALL CLOCK in full working order, with its original eight-day VERGE movement. The mahogany case features a deeply moulded dial surround, whilst the 10-inch diameter silvered dial is engraved with the signature. Guaranteed for at least two years. *There are a few clockmakers of this name, but only two who worked in London. This is likely to be John Harris, son of William Aaron Harris. Apprenticed in 1761 hebecame a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1772 (NB: The "verge" or "crown wheel" escapement is the earliest known type of mechanical escapement). c.1775

1867/18: A particularly fine and thoroughly original 18th century Chippendale period mahogany HANGING CORNER CABINET in excellent original condition. Below the pierced "Swan-Neck" pediment with its carved and gilded rosettes, is the well-figured and banded door, which opens to reveal three shaped shelves (making four in all). This door is flanked by reeded sides, and the painting of the interior, whilst not original, is certainly very old and in beautiful order. Dimensions to the corner: 22.5ins (57cms) c.1775
