1721/18: An excellent quality early/mid 19th century WRITING & DOCUMENTS BOX by Edwards, the famous box-maker to King George IV; William IV and Queen Victoria. The beautifully figured rosewood that is used here, is cross-banded with kingwood and inlaid with brass with recessed brass handles to the sides. It opens to reveal the fitted interior with the original gilt-tooled leather writing surface; pair of inkwells; two secret drawers; and separate brass-inlaid pen tray. To the inside of the lower slope, the original makers label can be found and there is a key to the working inner lock. 15ins wide; 9.5ins deep; 6ins high. (38x24x15cms) c.1830

1562/17: A superb quality WRITING BOX by Edwards of London, in excellent and original condition. The exterior is veneered in beautifully figured kingwood, with finest brass edges and inlaid with brass scrollwork to the top and front. To the sides are two recessed military-style handles. It opens to reveal the original gilt-tooled leather writing surface with pair of gilt-topped inkwells and the solid kingwood pen tray. The interior includes an inner tray, with pierced handles, which when removed allows access to the two secret drawers. A lovely writing box of highest quality. 15ins wide; 10ins deep 5.5ins high.
