1981/19: A charming mid/late Victorian drop-dial WALL CLOCK of delightful small size. The case is of finely figured mahogany with its “chisel” base veneered in superb flame timber and a solid mahogany dial surround. The 8-day movement is chain-driven fusee and is fitted with its 8-inch dial and original blued steel ‘spade’ hands. A high quality, very pretty and quite rare drop-dial wall clock. *Jonathan Jones (c1837-1910) worked at 338 The Strand having succeeded his father at the same premises. He is described as a man of "high attainment" having been Vice President of the BHI. He retired in 1885 and died aged 94 in 1910. c.1870
