1630/18: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a lovely quality and elegant PAIR of HALL CHAIRS by this famous English firm of cabinetmakers. Of a number of different styles of mahogany Hall Chairs that emerged from Gillows, this model is the most elegant, with its curved upper back rail veneered in finest "flame" mahogany; convex oval panels to the centre and a shaped solid mahogany oval seat. Each chair is supported on reeded and turned outswept front legs, with sabre back legs conjoined by a narrow turned stretcher. Delightful chairs! 33.5ins high overall; 16ins wide; 16ins deep. 1344/17: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: A good set of SIX solid beech simulated rosewood DINING CHAIRS in fine original condition. Each chair is carved with stylised anthiemon to the upper rail and with beading to the middle rail, whilst the drop-in seats are supported on well-turned and reeded legs, with carved anthiemon to each corner. 1138/16: An elegant and attractive mid-19th century English Hepplewhite style DRAWING ROOM ARMCHAIR of pretty proportions.
