2110/19: A charming mid-19th century BRONZE of “Venus de Milo” raised on a shaped marble base. Good colour and patina. Probably French; 13ins (33cms) high. *This famous statue in marble, slightly larger than life size, was created between 130-100BC. Part of one arm and the original plinth were lost after the discovery, and it is currently on permanent display in the Louvre museum in Paris. (It is named after Aphrodite's Roman name, Venus, and the Greek island of Milos, where it was discovered).
