2064/19: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a very fine quality WILLIAM IV or early Victorian mahogany TEAPOY ideal today for use as a side or WINE TABLE. The beautifully figured top opens to reveal a fitted interior, now lined in green baize, which is supported on a well-turned solid pillar leading to the ‘quadrapartite’ base and four solid feet within which can be found the original castors. *Originally used in the Drawing Room (for holding loose tea, which was mixed with hot water from an urn before serving) the teapoy makes an elegant Side Table today, with useful storage space.
