Early Carriage Clock by Jacot
1960/19: HENRI JACOT: an excellent quality French CARRIAGE CLOCK by this famous maker dating from the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the 19th century. The fine case retains its original 'mercury' gilding with a perfect enamel dial and pretty engraved and gilded mask. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong and repeats hours at will, whilst retaining its fine original platform lever escapement. Numbered both on the original leather travelling case and on the clock itself. Perfect working order. 7.5ins (19cms) high, handle up. Lovely! *With a relatively early number (2813) this clock is not signed with the iconic "HJ" (with parrot between) trademark, but it IS fully signed inside. See image above of the stamp on the back of the dialplate.
