Carrera marble mantle clock
1953/19: An elegant and charming mid-19th century FRENCH MANTLE CLOCK in full working order. The case is of urn shape fashioned from Italian Carrera marble, with four ormolu finials and surmounted by an ormolu planetarium. To the sides are ormolu ramâs head handles and it is raised upon a similarly mounted black marble base with gilt feet. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, via the outside countwheel, and it is complete with its original decorative pendulum. The fine enamel dial is perfect as are the cast and engraved ormolu hands which are particularly fine. 17ins (43cms) high overall.
