MARINE OIL PAINTING
1920/18: William WILLIAMSON: a good and large MARINE OIL PAINTING on wooden panel, entitled: "A View near Ostend". Full of movement and atmosphere, it depicts three 'working' boats being tossed about on choppy seas, with a harbour wall to the right and the town of Ostend in the distance on the left. Fine condition and measuring 41 x 25ins (104 x 63.5cms) including the later (but fine quality) ornate gilded frame. *William Williamson (1820-1883) was a gifted London painter of coastal scenes. He exhibited at Suffolk Street; The British Institute and the Royal Academy from 1853-1875.
