1857/18: A pretty early 19th century Regency period metamorphic GAMES & SEWING TABLE. Constructed of rosewood, the well figured top with its twin galleried demi-lune side flaps, has a sliding central section, which when opened reveals the original backgammon board, and when turned over, displays the inlaid chess & draughts board. Further below is the 'embroidery' drawer, whilst the table is supported on a central rosewood column, leading to an ornate ormolu collar, and the quadrapartite base with solid rosewood bun feet. Complete with (later) chess set, this delightful table has so many enjoyable uses...20ins (51cms) wide.
