Bronze by Moreau
1834/18: AUGUSTE MOREAU: an attractive late 19th century French BRONZE FIGURE of a young girl walking barefoot through the countryside carrying a sprig of flowers in her left hand and a basket of fruit over her arm. Signed 'Aug Moreau' within the integral bronze base and also labelled with an applied plaque for the foundry: "Duval, Bronzier, PARIS". 16ins high. *August Francoise MOREAU (1834-1917) was a famous French sculptor, one of a family dynasty who were all sculptors. The Father, Jean-Baptiste, had three sons: August, Maturin and Hippolyte-Francois.
