Large Chinese porcelain vase
1797/18: A very large, attractive and colourful CHINESE PORCELAIN VASE and cover, with some repairs. This impressive vase, decorated in the "famille verte" style, with birds perched amongst foliage and chrysanthemums, has two small chips to the edge of the lid and two areas of repair to the neck. The main body is in fine condition.* Interestingly, there is a label inside the lid, which states: "This article is guaranteed to be part of the prize, ex "Tantallon" captured by the British Fleet and sold by order of H.M. Admiralty Marshal. Alexandria in the year 1916". Kangxi, mid 19th century or earlier? 22ins high; 15ins diameter.
