Gillows Card Table
1770/18: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: an impressive and fine quality early 19th century mahogany CARD TABLE by this famous English cabinetmaker. The well figured top, with its iconic beaded decoration around the leading edges, opens to reveal a gorgeous (slightly faded) original baize interior. Below, the frieze, with its 'panelled' decoration (also typically Gillows) is supported on an octagonal central column, leading to a gadrooned 'collar' and shaped reeded legs terminating in particularly fine cast brass castors. Gillows at his best! 36ins wide; 18ins deep; 29.5ins high. (91.5 x 45.5 x 75cms)
