Gillows work table
1734/18: GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a lovely quality early/mid 19th century mahogany WORK or OCCASIONAL TABLE in fine and original condition. The well figured top with its "Vitruvian" carved solid gallery, features beaded decoration to the frieze, with two oak-lined drawers: one to either end. To the front is a slide, whilst the whole piece is raised on beautifully turned and carved supports, joined by a turned stretcher and leading to carved cabriole legs and feet with castors below. The quality of this carving is wonderful: crisp and proud. * The slide was designed to accommodate the 'work bag' ~ an optional extra. Original drawings (copy available) show this slide as being vacant.
