18th century Bracket Clock
1701/18: John Taylor of LONDON: a very fine quality late 18th cent BRACKET CLOCK in perfect working order. The decorative ebonised case features a bell top surmounted by an ormolu figure; four ormolu finials and prolific ormolu decoration to the front door and base. The 8-day movement strikes and repeats hours on a bell, and retains its original verge escapement. The fine dial has a pretty engraved scene to the centre; orginal blued steel hands; date aperture; cast spandrels and "Strike/Silent" control to the arch. 20.5ins high excluding finial. *John Taylor is recorded working in Upper Moorfields, London around 1780.
